OWNER / LEAD DESIGNER
Catherine Hooper
(SHE/HER)
I spent my childhood in New York City visiting flea markets and antique fairs with my mother, playing “I spy with my little eye” until we landed on unique finds (hence the business name). While my post-college career brought me in different directions, my love for all things interior design never wavered. After almost a decade on the front lines of political campaigns and social justice organizations, I took the plunge to leave those roles behind and finally turn my lifetime passion into a profession – with the hope of leveraging my past experiences to influence more equity in the field. As iSPY’s Owner & Lead Designer, I dedicate my time to cultivating new business, shepherding our clients from project vision through implementation, and supporting my incredible team in developing unique and personalized design plans for our wide variety of clients. I live in Oakland with my husband Drew and toddler Cash. In my spare time, I enjoy road trips, live music, political activism, and exploring local eateries and hiking trails.

Luzbella Ovalle
(SHE/HER)
As a Bay Area native, my fascination with design has always been influenced by the different cultures and history that my home state holds. I received my BS in Interior Design from San Francisco State University in 2020, and worked as a Design Consultant at Restoration Hardware before joining EG Custom Construction as a Showroom Assistant and Junior Designer. I joined iSPY Home Design in Spring 2021 to continue to build on my training as a designer and expand my portfolio of transformations. As a Senior Designer, I support with client consultations, home measures, floor plans and renderings, and furniture sourcing. I’m a self-described creative enthusiast who is eager to help others’ aesthetic vision come to life. In my free time, I explore a range of hobbies–embroidery, developing film, and ceramics, just to list a few.

Rock Herzog

Like Catherine, I grew up on the East Coast, specifically outside of Philadelphia in South Jersey. Funnily enough, my mother’s car always had a book from the I Spy series in the back! Prior to joining the team at iSPY Home Design in 2022, I spent a decade fundraising for social justice organizations. I still contribute my time to nonprofits that are based near where I grew up. In the field of interior design, I am a vintage reseller, a Showroom Manager, a design assistant, and a freelance designer. I joined iSPY for the chance to contribute to a studio that shared my values in both design and life. As a Senior Designer, I support with mood boarding, design boarding and furniture sourcing. I am particularly inspired by the legacy of queer interior designers like Anthony Machado and Eileen Gray, who straddled the line between being artists and designers. I live in Los Angeles with my Pomeranian Chihuahua.
